.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Friday)...
A low pressure system over the southwest states will maintain
cooler than average temperatures through Thursday. It will begin
to weaken and move east on Friday.

There will be periods of showers at times through Thursday into
Thursday evening with the greatest coverage over the mountains and
for San Diego County from the coast to the mountains. Rainfall and
liquid-equivalent above the snow level will range from one-tenth
inch or less near the coast to one-quarter to one-half inch in the
mountains with locally greater amounts. There is also a slight
chance of thunderstorms for inland areas on Thursday afternoon.

A snow level near 3500 to 4000 feet early this morning will rise
to 4500 to 5000 feet this afternoon, lower to 4000 to 4500 feet
late tonight, then rise to 5000 to 5500 feet during Thursday
afternoon into Thursday evening. Snowfall of a few inches is
possible above 5000 feet with locally 4 to 7 inches above 7500
feet.

Warming and drying will begin on Friday. High temperatures on
Friday will be around 5 degrees warmer near the coast to 8 to 12
degrees warmer for inland areas. There is a slight chance of
showers for the mountains and inland valleys on Friday afternoon
from residual moisture.

&&

.LONG TERM (Saturday through Tuesday)...
Dry weather with warming will continue for the weekend with high
temperatures warming to around average. A weak low pressure
pressure system moving inland through northern California on
Sunday night into Monday with slow the warming on Monday.
Strengthening high pressure over the western states will bring
greater warming for the middle and latter part of next week with
temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above average for inland areas. High
temperatures on Wednesday will range from the lower to mid 70s
near the coast to the mid 80s to lower 90s for the inland valleys
with high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s for the lower
deserts.
